After much careful thought and consideration, our CEO Cathy Fooks has indicated her intention to leave the Foundation by the beginning of the summer. Over the past 13 years of dedicated leadership, Cathy has transformed the Foundation from a granting agency into the credible, thoughtful, ethical organization we know today. The Foundation is recognized for its thought leadership and ground-breaking work in patient and caregiver driven improvement in the health care system.
I’m pleased to say that Cathy is committed to staying on as the leader of the Foundation to see the culmination of the caregiver strategic plan to be showcased at the Capstone summit in May 2020 and to avoid the need to put an interim CEO in place.
The Change Foundation Board is acting quickly to launch a recruitment process. During these coming months, the Board will work with Cathy and the Executive Leads to continue the important work the Foundation is involved with and ensure a smooth transition to the new CEO.
Although there will be time to recognize Cathy’s contributions in the coming months, at this point I’d like to personally express my deep appreciation and thanks to Cathy for her determined, focused and strategic leadership. She has been a respected leader and advisor, always bringing value and insight, for The Change Foundation but also for others in the health care system as it has changed and transformed over the past 13 years.
She is leaving an organization that, by any definition, is a force of positive change in Ontario’s health, community and home care sector.
Her accomplishments are many – she played an imperative role in creating the Ontario Caregiver Organization (OCO), provided objective leadership and guidance to inform the province’s work in home and community care and has created a dynamic organizational culture that has made it possible for our small team to have immeasurable impact on the health and community care system.
The Change Foundation will remain focused on accelerating health care innovation to achieve a meaningful improvement for patients, caregivers and health care providers. We know that Cathy will always be an ambassador of the work of the Foundation, especially as she contributes to the evolution of the health care system in Ontario in new and exciting ways in the future.
Chair, Board of Directors of The Change Foundation
