Special announcement

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

On behalf of The Change Foundation, we are honoured to share the Ontario government announcement that Cathy Fooks will take on the role of Patient Ombudsman for Ontario effective July 13, 2020. Cathy’s commitment to working closely with patients and caregivers to improve the healthcare experience makes her an ideal person for this role. We cannot think of a more suitable person, especially at this juncture in health care in Ontario. Congratulations Cathy! We look forward to working with you in your new role.

Cathy will end her tenure as CEO at The Change Foundation on Friday, June 26th, 2020.  The Board will soon announce an interim CEO to lead the organization while the Foundation works towards finding a new CEO.

The Board of Directors are committed to a seamless transition, to ensure stability and the strategic leadership that the Change Foundation is known for. During this time, the Foundation will continue its current work to extend our expertise in engagement and co-design and work collaboratively with the OHA, our range of system-wide partnerships, and patients and caregivers to improve the healthcare experience in Ontario.

Once a new permanent CEO is in place, the Foundation will shift attention to the review and renewal of its strategic focus, with a commitment to continue its positive contributions to the evolution of our integrated health care system.

Please join us in congratulating Cathy on this new role.

Jeanette Despatie

Chair, Board of Directors of The Change Foundation
